The Grid

The Grid duplicates your logbook page. All you do is select a block of time from the bottom Time Line. Then drag & drop it on the right duty status line in The Grid.

It is as simple as making The Grid look like your paper log. Instead of drawing a line with your pen, you are using your mouse or track pad.

Automatic Totals

As you drag & drop blocks of time onto the Grid, EZ-Log automatically updates the totals for each Duty Status lines. The Duty Status lines are:

  • Off Duty
  • Sleeper
  • Driving
  • On Duty, Not Driving

In addition, EZ-Log automatically updates "Total Hours Worked." Finally, there is a "Safety" feature. When you are done, the bottom line should read 0 (zero) and the second from the bottom should read 24. This verifies that your day balances.

Built In Help

Help and answers to your questions are alway just a click away. Click on the "Help" tab and you will get help on every aspect of EZ-Log.

Help is extremely easy to use. First, you will see images of every EZ-Log element. To get more information on what you are supposed to do, just hover your mouse pointer over each part of the element and instructions, tips and notes will pup up.

It is extremely frustrating when an important application requires Internet access to read the help files. Drivers don't always have this luxury!

Mileage & Average Speed

EZ-Log remembers yesterday's ending odometer reading because it becomes today's starting mileage. You don't have to type it in twice.

Average Speed is also calculated. This is more important now with the advent of CSA-2010. If your logbook is audited at an inspection or company audit, you can get speeding tickets based on your average speed.

Speeding Rule - An enforcement officer can issue a speeding citation when a driver's logbook shows that average speed is greater than 5 mph below the posted speed limit.

Example: You drove in a state where the posted speed limit is 55 mph. At a Level 1 or Level 2 inspection, the inspector determines that the drivers average speed for 4 of the past 7 days is greater than 50 mph. The inspector can issue four speeding citations during the inspection!

High average speed can be a result of actually speeding or understating the time on the Driving line. So, if you are tempted to shave off a little driving time to extend your 14 or 70, this could cost you fines, points or even your CDL!

70 Hour & Reset Calculators

The 70 Hour Calculator is very easy to use. After you reset, enter the date and the Calculator fills in the dates for the following days. Then, as the days past, enter the Total Hours Worked in the blue column. EZ-Log automatically calculates Total Hours Worked and Hours Available for this 70 hour period.

You will always know exactly how many hours are available at the beginning of each day. You can also see when hours begin falling off. This is very helpful in planning your trips. It will also help you avoid committing to trips where you don't have enough time to complete legally.

The 70 Hour Calculator goes out 90 days. If you regularly drive more than 90 days between resets, let us know and we can customize your EZ-Log file.

The Reset Calculator is also very easy to use. Enter continuous hours off for the first and last day of your reset. Then enter then number of full days off.

The Reset Calculator shows your total hours off. Plus, it will display "True" or "False" to verify that the time really qualifies for a reset. The Reset Calculator can save you from serious logbook violations when you really need to get moving.
